2. Three main types purposeful  sampling quota   sampling , snowballing   sampling .

3. P urposeful sampling/ Purposive Sampling is selected based on characteristics of a population and the objective of the study . Purposive sampling is also known as judgmental, selective, or subjective sampling . The main goal of  purposive sampling  is to focus on particular characteristics of a population that are of interest, which will best enable you to answer your research questions.

4. Q uota sampling Quota sampling requires that representative individuals are chosen out of a specific subgroup . non-random  sample

5. S nowballing Sampling/ Snow Ball Sampling Snowball sampling  is where research participants recruit other participants for a test or study . It is used where potential participants are hard to find . It's  called snowball sampling  because (in theory) once you have the ball rolling, it picks up more “snow” along the way and becomes larger and larger.
