MEASUREMENT TOOLS
The metering of Private Cloud systems will be triggered centrally
for all your systems to free up capacity on your side. This is
technically possible with the following releases :
≥SAP BASIS 752
Including all Support Packages
Your systems need to be on any of those releases to be
enabled for the automated metering.
Prerequisites for successful metering

6INTERNAL – SAP and Customers Only
SAP Private Cloud: User Classification SAP S/4HANA PCE USE TYPES
SAP S/4HANA Cloud advanced use
Authorized Users (as defined in the GTC) are permitted to use all
solution capabilities of RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private
edition, inclusive of display and approval use rights
SAP S/4HANA Cloud core use
Authorized Users (as defined in the GTC) are permitted to use the
solution capabilities as defined in the Software Use Rights of RISE
with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition
SAP S/4HANA Cloud self-service use
Authorized Users (as defined in the GTC) are permitted to use the
solution capabilities as defined in the Software Use Rights of RISE
with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition
SAP S/4HANA Cloud development access
Users who are authorized to access the development tools provided
with the licensed SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management Software for
the purpose of making ABAP Addons to any SAP S/4HANA Cloud,
private edition packages.
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Tech. Engine use
The user type ‘SAP S/4HANA Cloud Technical Engine Use should be
assigned to individuals who are not (and do not have to be) licensed
for the use of SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management, but need
access to the SAP S/4HANA system exclusively in order to execute
functionality of one or more licensed software packages (“Engines”).

ON PREMISE USER CLASSIFICATION
Many different named user types
Specific definitions in the contract („Limited Professional“)
Users of LoB solutions („Engines“) need a named user license
Oftenmanual classificationrequired, no automated user classification
available
PCE USER CLASSIFICATION
Simplified use type definitionsin SAP S/4HANA Cloud („Core Use“)
Pure use ofLoB solutionsrequires no additional user license („Engine
Use“)
Development accessbased on activities in the development systems
Manual classificationonly in some cases required (like for Engine
Systems)
Authorization based ruleset allowsautomated user classificationin
SAP S/4HANA Cloud systems
Authorizations of users need to fit to the use types

(like administrators or key users)
manually to relevant use type.
Please note:If there are users in your
SAP S/4HANA core systems that only use
engines and no further core functionality,
please also classify them manually as
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Technical Engine
Use.
Manual classification will overrule
automated user classification.
