OBJECTIVEOFTHEPROJECT
Water conservation objectifies on protecting natural water
bodies and their aquatic environment . Water is an important
natural resource. All the organisms depend on water to live
and grow. 97% of Earth’s surface is covered with water, and
only 3% of water is safe and drinkable. It is found in a frozen
state in mountains and glaciers . And in order to that I
interviewed my neighbourhood and some of my friends
about their views on save water and how do they think about
save water? I conversed with them and found out that
everyone had different views about water conservation and I
even encountered some positive as well as negative
remarks about saving water. The project aimed at preparing
a questionnaire that suits to ask these individuals and know
about their need and collect data for analyzing the facts on
conserving water for future use.
This project work help me to learn the method of translating one`s
vernacular language medium in English especially with people who
are not competent in English language.
Listen to audio/video clip converse related with this topic especially
video clipping and understand the speaking proficiency required to
achieve a certain level of language proficiency. Develop the skills to
speak in fluent way and explain the written materials to a third party.
ACTION PLAN
The entire project has been fulfilled following different steps and
consultations with teachers and peers and experts with reference to print
and visual media. The project aims at achieving a clear understanding about
the term Conserving water and it`s view in other people`s mind . It was
achieved by visiting and conversing in my neighbourhood and friend`s
circles. I visited them with prepared questionnaire and asked them about
what do they mean about saving water and how much they are concern
about it. Along with that I have acquired a good proficiency in general
English speaking and methods of interacting with people and listening to
various interviews conducted by our national channels and world media. For
project I carried out several studies, readings and interviews related with my
topic and came to know about the methods of conservations and their
source of accessing and even the need of saving water. Then I analyzed the
data from different persons and became enlightened about the conservation
of water and its challenges in India

PROJECT REPORT
This project I have carried out to interact with some of the people
to get first-hand information about their views on save water and
it`s social impact. I approached four people one from my
neighbourhood and rest three from my friend`s circle. All of them
interacted with me whole heartedly and shared their perspective
with me. Through these lines I would like to dedicate my gratitude
towards all my interviewers.
Through this project I have learnt the different people`s
perceptions about saving water. The greatest lesson I learnt
through this project is “learning is an experience everything else
is just information”. The questionnaire used for the interview
made slight variations with persons to get desired results.
The first question I put up was “What do they understand by SAVE
WATER?” for this I got contrary replies. First I interviewed was my
neighbour by profession he is banker he said that to him saving water
means is using it wisely so that future generations can also utilize it.
The second, third, fourth were my friends who are students like me
with different fields of their choice they answered this question by
stating water conservation is the practice of using water efficiently to
reduce unnecessary water usage. I conversed with them mostly in my
target language of English and in circumstances and one or two cases
I used their mother tongue and converted them into English report.
My second question was “What are the methods of saving water?” two
out of four said that they were aware about rainwater harvesting,
sustainable use of water and protection of water from pollutions rest
two told me that they had idea about the recreation of traditional water
resources, flood management system and dam and reservoir
management
For the third question of “Is saving water really a topic of
concern?” I got parallel answers like they believe in conserving
water can make sure that our community has access to food
and clean water for drinking, cleaning, hygiene, and sanitation
in daily life. To my fourth question “What steps government
took to save water?” to this I received agreeing and unvaried
answers like government has introduced terms like save water
campaigns under title “Jaal hi Jeevan hai” and many more.
My last question was “What they do to conserve water?” to this
I got original answers three out four said that they take shorter
showers, turn off water while brushing, using water overflow
alarms, checking pipe leak, using dishwasher to do dishes etc.
but one said that she joined the NGO named WATER FOR
PEOPLE for the purpose of saving water.
CONCLUSION
The Interviews with the four people working in the different walks
of life was really a good experience for me to acquire knowledge
on conserving water. It provides me a good opportunity to
interact with my neighbour and come to know about them and
their views and concern about saving water. It helped me to
formulate my ideology about saving and conserving water and
made me aware about the after consequences if we don’t save
and conserve water on right time. So overall in nutshell water
conserving should be practiced by every individual on their
personal level because life exists only when there is water.
