OBJECTIVES A: Take good care of one’s reproductive system. S: Compare and contrast the male and female reproductive system. K: Describe the parts of the reproductive system and their functions.

What do you feel about your body right now?

Your body is composed of several efficient and hardworking organ systems that enable you to perform all life functions.

With the organ systems working well, you are able to live as a complete and normal organism.

One of the systems in your body is the reproductive system . It enables animals and humans to produce offspring. This system is involved in the perpetuation of species.

You came from your parents.

Chicks came from their parent chickens.

Papaya plant came from its parent plant.

REPRODUCE Human beings, plants and animals have something in common.

REPRODUCTION is the process by which organism produces more of its kind. People, plants and animals have the ability to reproduce their own offspring.

Why is reproduction important? Reproduction is an important part of all living things because it ensures the continuity of life .

Males and females have different body structures that enable them to reproduce.

Are you aware of your sexuality? What are your roles in the family being a male? What are your roles in the family being a female?

GUIDE QUESTIONS Which organ in our body is needed for reproduction? Which part of the female reproductive system where the baby develops? Which part of the female reproductive organ will the baby comes out during giving birth? How do you keep your reproductive system healthy?

GUIDE QUESTIONS Which organ in our body is needed for reproduction? Which part of the female reproductive system where the baby develops? Which part of the female reproductive organ will the baby comes out during giving birth? How do you keep your reproductive system healthy?

MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM Sperm is the male reproductive cell. A man can release millions of sperm cells but only one is needed for fertilization .

Study the diagram of the male reproductive system below. Each reproductive organ has a specific function in the reproductive process.

Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions ORGAN FUNCTION Testis (testes in plural) produces sperm cells and secretes the male sex hormones (androgen and testosterone

ORGAN FUNCTION Scrotal sac or scrotum holds the testis/testes Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Penis deposits sperm into the vagina Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Urethra serves as the passageway For both sperm and urine; has an opening that closes to pass one at a time Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Epididymis stores mature sperm and is site where the sperm cells gain the ability to move which is necessary for fertilization Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Vas deference (sperm duct) Passageway of fluid that neutralize to the urethra; stores sperm Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Seminal vesicle Secrete a fluid that contains fructose (energy source for sperm) Parts of the Male Reproductive System and their Functions

The Female Reproductive System

Parts of the Female Reproductive System and their Functions ORGAN FUNCTION Ovary (ovaries in plural) alternately produce the female sex cells (egg or ova) a nd secretes the female hormones (estrogen and progesterone)

ORGAN FUNCTION Fallopian tube or oviduct Pathway where the ova travels from the ovary to the uterus Parts of the Female Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Cervix Passage way for menstrual flow; passage way for sperm Parts of the Female Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Vagina (birth canal) Passageway for menstrual flow and baby to the outside Parts of the Female Reproductive System and their Functions

ORGAN FUNCTION Uterus Site of implantation. Holds the developing embryo. Has a lining (endometrium) enriched with blood vessels to nourish the embryo. Parts of the Female Reproductive System and their Functions

Compare the male and female reproductive system. Male Reproductive System Female Reproductive System BOTH

Study the pictures below. Which of the pictures below show proper hygiene to one’s body? Encircle the picture of your answer. The reproductive system is an important body system because it ensures the survival of the organism. Proper care and maintenance should always be observed. What else will you do to keep your body healthy?

Label the parts of the Male Reproductive System

Label the parts of the Female Reproductive System

Classify the following reproductive part as MALE or FEMALE . Write your answer on a piece of paper. ______1. Fallopian Tube ______ 6. Cervix ______ 2. Ovary ______ 7. Penis ______ 3. Testes ______ 8. Epididymis ______ 4. Scrotum ______ 9. Uterus ______ 5. Vagina ______ 10. Vas deferens

Directions: Choose one of the following activities that you like to do. Draw and Label- Draw and label the male and female reproductive system. B. Video Clip- Make a short video clip that explains at least 5 functions of the parts of the male and female reproductive system.
