Scope and Process of Community Organization

Community Organization follows a systematic process, so it is called a method in Social Work.

2. Scope of Community Organization Scope of community organization is broad... Community organization process is used in all types of communities, whether it’s villages, cities, metropolitan areas, services and distributing communities, industrial communities, educational centers and political centers. In many fields of human activity- in politics, in art, in education, in economic life, wherever the individuals and groups seek ways to pool their resources and efforts to achieve improvement in community life, there is a scope of community organization .

Conti… Community organization has its scope in Economic upliftment (identify resources, develop and modify welfare programmes , providing opportunities, e.g.- self help groups, by organizing festivals (snow festival), village tourism ). Role of Social worker - Community Organizer, Resource Mobilizer Education ( Community schools, couching centers, Moral education centers etc.), Health ( The sick person, the handicapped one, and the disabled one who cannot get the care, the community provides hospital, clinics and other health services )( Nutrition Education, Water Sanitation, disposal of wastes properly, Personal hygiene, Health Education, Immunization Campaign, Marriage Counseling )

7. The importance of community organization are as follows : ( i) It promotes sense of participation among the people. (ii) It brings about individual progress towards material and recreational goals. (iii)  It helps in personal acceptance and appreciation of each others. (iv)  It creates an atmosphere of respect for the rights and interest of  people. (v)  It promotes sense of belongingness and neighborhood among the people of the community and thereby developing a healthy community life.
