INTRODUCTION
Self –concept is an individual’s conceptualization of himself or herself.
It is a subjective sense of self and a complex mixture of unconscious
and conscious thoughts, attitudes and perceptions.
Self –concepts directly affects one’s self –esteem.
Nurses care for clients who face a variety of health problems that
threaten their self –concept and self –esteem.
Hence, nurses need to help clients adjust to alterations in self –concept
and support components of self –concept to promote successful
coping.
