Self concept Self-concept refers a person’s belief about him- or herself (Carducci, 2015) Within the self-concept are the individual’s assessment of his or her physical characteristics and personality attributes. Beliefs about physical features and personality characteristics .

Self esteem Self-esteem refers to a person’s overall evaluation of him or herself (Brown , 1998; Buss, 1995, 2001; Harter, 1999 ). General self-evaluation

Identity Personal identity , refers to the objective , physical, social, and personal characteristics and attributes that help distinguish a person from others (Buss , 1995, 2001). Many elements help each of us establish our own personal identity; among the most salient is a person’s name .

Identity conflict, occurring when aspects of an individual’s public and private identities do not match. It can be a source of much emotional discomfort.
