GLANDULAR TRICHOMES
These are living ,characterised by the secretion of salts, sugar, gums, resins
and acid
May be unicellular(stinging hairs of Urtica),stigmaticpapillaeor
multicellular (salt glands of Avicennia) digestive glands of Nepenthes
FUNCTION OF TRICHOMES
Adaptation to xerophytic habitat because trichomes
present on the plant surface reduce transpiration and serve
as water storage organs
Glandular trichomes secretes poisonous substances to
protect the plants from attack
Nectar secreting trichomes helps in pollination by attracting
insects
Digestive trichomes help to capture and digest the insects
