Seminar PPT: Understanding Muslim Beliefs Slide 1 – Title Muslim Beliefs: What Every Christian Youth Should Know John 8:32 – “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Why Learn About Muslim Beliefs? 2 billion Muslims worldwide Many are our classmates, neighbours, and friends Understanding helps us share Jesus respectfully

Islam’s Core Framework Islam = Submission (to Allah) Based on two things: Beliefs ( Iman ) & Practices (Pillars) Qur’an + Hadith + Muhammad’s life as model (Surah 33:21)

Six Articles of Faith ( Iman ) Belief in Allah (One God) Belief in Angels ( Mala’ika ) Belief in Holy Books (Torah, Zabur , Injil , Qur’an) Belief in Prophets (Adam to Muhammad) Belief in the Day of Judgment ( Qiyamah ) Belief in Divine Destiny ( Qadar )

Each Article Detailed with Qur’an Verses Allah – Surah 112:1–4 – “Allah is One, no son.” Angels – Surah 35:1 – Messengers with wings. Books – Surah 2:136 – Torah, Psalms, Gospel, Qur’an. Prophets – Surah 4:163 – Line of prophets ending with Muhammad. Judgment – Surah 99:6–8 – Every deed weighed. Destiny – Surah 54:49 – “We created all things with measure.” (Biblical contrasts on each slide, e.g., John 1:14 on Jesus, not just prophet.

The Five Pillars of Islam Shahada – Declaration of faith Salat – 5 daily prayers Zakat – Almsgiving Sawm – Fasting in Ramadan Hajj – Pilgrimage to Mecca

Each Pillar Detailed Shahada – “There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is his messenger.” Salat – Surah 29:45 – Pray to avoid evil. Zakat – Surah 9:60 – Charity required. Sawm – Surah 2:183 – Fasting during Ramadan. Hajj – Surah 22:27 – Pilgrimage commanded. (Contrast: Ephesians 2:8–9 – not works but grace.)

Muhammad in Islam Final prophet (Surah 33:40 – “Seal of Prophets”) Seen as perfect example (Surah 33:21) Qur’an revealed to him (Surah 96:1 – “Recite!”)

Qur’an in Islam Claimed uncreated & eternal (Surah 85:22) Sent down over 23 years Standardized by Caliph Uthman (Bukhari 6:61:509) Believed incorruptible (Surah 15:9)

Islam’s View of Jesus (Isa) Born of Mary, prophet only (Surah 19:30) Not Son of God (Surah 5:72) Not crucified (Surah 4:157) Will return as Muslim judge (Contrast: John 1:1, John 3:16, Luke 24:6)

Sin & Salvation in Islam Sin = breaking Allah’s law Forgiveness = good deeds outweigh bad (Surah 7:8–9) No assurance of salvation Paradise depends on Allah’s mercy (Contrast: Romans 3:23–24, John 5:24)

Heaven (Jannah) & Hell (Jahannam) Jannah : Gardens, pleasures (Surah 55:54–56) Jahannam: Fire, torment (Surah 4:56) Contrast: Revelation 21:1–4 – New Creation, God Himself with His people

Sharia (Islamic Law) Derived from Qur’an + Hadith Covers worship, diet, marriage, punishments Surah 5:38 – Hand cut for theft Contrast: Romans 8:2 – “Law of the Spirit gives life”

Women in Islam Surah 4:34 – Men may discipline wives Surah 4:11 – Women inherit half Hadith: Women’s testimony = half a man’s Contrast: Galatians 3:28 – All equal in Christ

Jihad (Striving in Islam) Internal struggle + armed struggle Surah 9:29 – Fight unbelievers Hadith: “Paradise under the shade of swords” Contrast: Matthew 5:9 – Blessed are peacemakers

Islam’s Strengths Strong identity & community Discipline in prayer & fasting Respect for prophets & scripture Good bridge to conversations

Islam’s Weaknesses No assurance of forgiveness Muhammad’s late sources (130+ years later) Qur’an shows dependence on Jewish/Christian traditions Historical & archaeological problems with Mecca

Key Differences Summarized God : Trinity vs strict monotheism Jesus : Divine Savior vs prophet only Salvation : Grace vs works Scripture : Bible inspired vs Qur’an edited

Why This Matters for Youth Muslims are in our schools & cities Many are open to conversations about Jesus Sharing truth must be done in love (1 Peter 3:15)

Evangelism Question Examples “ In Islam, how do you know your sins are forgiven?” “Do you feel sure about paradise?” “What does the Qur’an say about asking People of the Book?” (Surah 10:94)

Closing Call Pray for Muslim friends by name Share the Gospel of Jesus with boldness & love Remember: Only Christ saves (John 14:6)
