Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, because of the person who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger and abandon wrath. Do not get upset, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be eliminated, But (the Ani ) those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land. PSALM 37 vv.7-11

Yet a little while and the wicked person will be no more, and you will look carefully for his place, and he will not be there. But the meek (the Ani ) will inherit the land and will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. PSALM 37 vv.7-11

We are culturally taught that everything out there is hostile. I have to compare, dominate, control, and insure. In brief, I have to be in charge. That need to be in charge moves us deeper and deeper into a world of anxiety. Christianity is a lifestyle – a way of being in the world that is simple, non-violent, shared, and loving.

However, we made it into an established “religion” (and all that goes with that) and avoided the lifestyle change itself. One could be warlike, greedy, racist, selfish and vain in most of Christian history and still believe that Jesus is one’s “personal Lord and Savior”… The world has no time for such silliness anymore. The suffering on Earth is too great. Richard Rohr - Everything Belongs

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked, “Which is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: …‘You shall love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” MARK 12 vv.28-31

ROOTED IN JESUS At Vintage Church we are committed to the authority of God in scripture, and seek to root our understanding and application of the Bible in the cruciform character of Jesus as the exact representation of God’s heart, mind, character and being, through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit.

ROOTED IN JESUS We seek to unite around Jesus’ life, ministry, teaching, victory over sin and death, and around the foundational convictions of the historic Christian faith.

Christ, as light, illumine and guide me; Christ, as shield, overshadow me. Christ under me; Christ over me;  Christ beside me, on my left and on my right.  This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, but all powerful. Be in the heart of each to whom I speak, and in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.  This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, but all powerful. Christ as a light, Christ as a shield,  Christ beside me on my left and on my right. Amen. CLOSING PRAYER
