A Shell Chemicals UK magazine published in April 1989, edited by Brian Moffett. It includes a feature on SCUK's New Business Development Centre established at Carrington, and one of its new ventures : Oilfield Chemicals

OF THE JIGSAW

PERMISSION to build an ethylene pipeline from Grangemouth to the North West
will solve a supply puzzle for Shell Chemicals. The last piece ofthe jigsaw
would give Shell Chemicals control of the longest integrated production line in the world.
A distance of some 750 mile.
From Shell's most distant well in the North Sea to the Scottish mainland, down
the east coast to the Kingdom of Fife and the ethylene manufacturing plant,
‘under the Firth of Forth to Grangemouth and then across Scotland to the county
‘of Cumbria, the feedstock chain will stretch.
After running parallel to England's West coast the new pipeline would curve along the
line ofthe river Mersey and enter Shell Chemicals manufacturing hinterland.
