“PERCEPTION CONSTRUCTS PERCEPTION” Discussion Leader: Leopoldo A. Garra-IV Instructor: Mr. Jason Barrun

"Perception tasks construct perception“ Highlights the active and dynamic nature of how we perceive the world. It suggests that the way we engage with and interact with our environment significantly influences our understanding and experience of it.

Key aspects to consider : ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT - Perception isn't passive; it's a process of actively seeking, selecting, and interpreting information. We're not just receiving sensory input; we're actively constructing meaning based on our goals, expectations, and prior knowledge.

TASK-DRIVEN PROCESSING -Our perception is often driven by the tasks we're trying to accomplish. For example, when searching for a specific item in a cluttered room, we focus our attention on relevant features and ignore irrelevant ones. This task-driven focus shapes our perception of the environment.

EXPERIENCE & LEARNING -Our past experiences and learning influence how we interpret sensory information. If we've learned to associate a certain sound with danger, our perception of that sound will be heightened and potentially biased.

COGNITIVE BIASES -Our perception can be influenced by cognitive biases, which are systematic errors in thinking that can lead to distorted interpretations of reality. These biases can be shaped by our beliefs, emotions, and motivations.

In essence, the statement emphasizes that our perception is not a fixed, objective representation of reality but rather a dynamic construction shaped by our actions, goals, and experiences.
