bilal ali bhurgri SHORT STORY
A short story is a fully developed story that is shorter than a novel and longer than a fable . It typically takes just a single sitting for reading. Short Story focuses on the incidents bigger or smaller and evokes strong feelings from its readers. A short story often has a few characters in the plot .
Short story, brief fictional prose narrative that is shorter than a novel and that usually deals with only a few characters.
The short story is usually concerned with a single effect conveyed in only one or a few significant episodes or scenes. The form encourages economy of setting , concise narrative, and the omission of a complex plot ; character is disclosed in action and dramatic encounter but is seldom fully developed .
A short story is a work of prose fiction that can be read in one sitting—usually between 20 minutes to an hour. There is no maximum length, but the average short story is 1,000 to 7,500 words, with some outliers reaching 10,000 or 15,000 words.
Length is the main difference between a novel and a short story, but this variable isn’t enough to define the features that set them apart. From the focus to the number of characters,
Novels and short stories are both considered literary works of fiction, and are often distinguished by their length—with novels being the longest form —
Typically, in short stories characters are limited to no more than three characters. In this genre, readers get to know the characters through their actions, so when you’re writing a short story, you need to think about actions and scenarios that reveal character traits.
Novels have the space for more character development, which means more background information and description. As readers in this context, we should clearly be able to see how characters evolve between the beginning and the end of the story.
Everything in a short story needs to be succinct and precise, which means limiting your use of long descriptive passages. On the flip side, in a novel, detailed descriptive text can be used to build several scenarios.
Short stories usually tell one story and have a single plot. Whereas the main narrative of a novel should always be complemented by various subplots, which develop as new characters and stories join the action.
Both novels and short stories need a plot. One technique authors use is to turn a single event or a moment into a story: a scandal, a betrayal, a murder, an inconsistency, an idyll, a slip, a sex love marriage hatred jealousy etc. They achieve this by combining their initial idea or starting point with other related or subsequent incidents based on that plot.
A short story takes a "slice" of life and focuses on, for example, a single incident, an aspect of love, a specific decision. Where a novel might be 300 pages, a short story will be anywhere from 5-30 pages. The main focus of a short story is to present the reader with a single clarifying moment .
Short stories focus upon one or two important events to drive their plot. Novels, on the other hand, may have many different sub-plots, twists, and turns to reach the climax and resolution of the story.
Short stories, as their name denotes, are shorter in nature than full-length books or novels. A novel may be several thousand pages, if warranted, whereas a short story is often measured by its word count.
a short story will set a limit of 5,000-15,000 words at the outmost. Novels, with their numerous pages, chapters, and events, can number into the millions for word count, if such length is warranted.
Novels, because they are longer, have the time to create more characters, multiple important events, and to go into more in-depth characterization. Short stories are usually more focused, centering on one major conflict, or relaying a large amount of time in a more distant and summarized manner.
Setting is important in both novels and short stories, but while novels will often have more than one setting a short story usually only has one. Thus, the short story is more highly dependent on the setting, and the setting is carefully chosen.
Short story setting cover less of a range. Span of time, location, dates, seasons--all will be less because of the necessary nature of the shortened work. Novels will span a much larger range and variation.
The primary difference between these two genres is length and depth of focus. A novel is organized by chapters, and will typically begin with some sort of expository information about one more more characters. Novels will often have sub-plots accompanying the main plot, because there is more time to develop these; character development for a novel tends to be more in-depth as well.
Short Story, Novella, and novel Writers do not agree on the exact length of a story but some say that it presents only one aspect of life and is reasonably beyond or within a 3,000 to 7,000-word count. However, a novellla is a bit longer and typically presents several aspects of the life of a character

A short story is a story that has a fully developed theme and the parts and components of a story, but it has a length that is shorter than a novel. Short stories are usually between 1,000 and 7,500 words. They give readers a chance to escape for a brief time, and they are designed to finish in one sitting.
The average reader is said to be able to finish most short stories in 20 minutes to an hour. In these short stories, all of the elements of a short story must be included. These short story elements are: the setting, the plot, the characters, the conflict, and the theme.
