SHOT TYPES Extreme long shot Long shot Mid shot Close up Extreme close up Cutaway
EXTREME LONG SHOT Usually used to show the setting of the scene. Also known as an establishing shot. Can be up to a quarter mile away.
LONG SHOT Can also be used to set the scene. Usually used to show a whole figure or in relation to something big.
MID SHOT Usually includes from the waist to the head. Allows for more movement than a close up and hand gestures. Emotionally neutral. Usually used to give information.
CLOSE UP Used to show emotion. Usually includes a headshot. Includes detail.
EXTREME CLOSE UP The most detailed shot. Usually includes a single feature of someone.
