SIMPLE PAST TENSE is used when you want to express the idea that something has already finished/done. There are 2 kinds of sentences: Nominal and Verbal

Regular and Irregular Verbs To make the past tense form of most verbs ( regular verbs) we simply add “ ed ” at the end . Examples using the verb “walk”: Past Tense: I walked through the maze . Irregular verbs are not that simple. We sometimes need a dictionary to help us write the different forms of irregular verbs . Examples using the verb “see”: Past Tense: We saw the secret maps.

Examples Question: Did you sit down? Response: Yes, I sat down./ No, I did no t sit down. Question: Were you at home ? Response: Yes, I was at home./ No, I was not at home. Sit is a verb, so you need to use ‘Did’, while, at home is Adverb of Place so you need to use to be past “were”.
To make interrogative using Simple Past Tense, you need to think whether your main element of your sentence is: showing action ( using verb : verbal ) or showing situation or explaining condition ( using adjective, adverb, noun : using nominal ) Example: _____( do) you go out last night?
