2. What is “Skill”? An ability and capacity acquired through deliberate, systematic, and sustained effort to smoothly and adaptively carryout complex activities or  job functions  and any other activity .

3. Need of skill development To be more employable and more productive in work environment. India is a country today with 65% of its youth in the working age group. If ever there is a way to reap this demographic advantage, it has to be through skill development of the youth so that they add not only to their personal growth, but to the country’s economic growth as well. 

4. Types of skills 1. Communication skills : Work on it… Communication, like any other skill is one that you absolutely need to practice in order to excel at it. No one is “born” a great communicator. With someone you know and trust, ask for them to practice with you. The more you listen, read, speak and engage in non-verbal communication, the better you will become at this vital skill. 2. Analytical and research skills : Work on math problems. I know it sounds elementary, but solving math problems (without a calculator) is a good way to kick-start that analytical side of your brain. 3. Computer and technical litreacy : To increase your computer literacy check out your local training centers 4. Interpersonal abilities: This one is very similar to your ability to communicate, but is specific to the ability to relate to your co-workers, inspire others to participate, and mitigate conflict with co-workers 5. Managing multiple priorities: MULTI-TASKING! Society today demands proficiency in this area. Your ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments are absolutely critical

5. Skill development Initiatives APSSDC- Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation

APSSDC Objectives: To Implement a structured and pragmatic solution to skill and upskill the workforce in the state of A.P. and to increase employability, and promote entrepreneurship in sync with Industrial growth of the State. Context : Andhra Pradesh will face an incremental Human resources requirement of approximately 10 million Skilled workers between 2015 till 2022, across the high-priority and emerging sectors . Vision : To be the best state in India and to be competing with the best in the world by 2022, when India celebrates its 75th year of independence and to achieve the status of a fully developed state by 2029.
