Opinion: Authenticity & Leadership I’ve heard a lot about the importance of authenticity. But what does it mean? Isn’t it insulting to tell people to be themselves. I disagree. Your values and principles play a big part in how you respond to events and situations personally and professionally. It’s about showing your team you’re human and having empathy. It just gives people an opportunity to exploit you and take advantage. Any sign of weakness will be seized upon.
