Slovenia Slovenia is a country located in Central Europe at the crossroads of main European cultural and trade routes .Slovenia covers 20,271 square kilometers and has a population of 2.111 million . Slovenia is a parliamentary republic and member nation of the European Union , United Nations, and NATO. The capital city is L jubljana . Official language is Slovene.

Ljubljana Ljubljana is the green capital of a green country. The area on either side of the river with its picturesque bridges and the central market owes its distinctive appearance to the great architect Jože Plečnik . The city of thousands of events is surrounded by parks and areas of protected nature. You can hardly claim that you have visited Ljubljana ,if you haven't been photographed next to a Dragon Bridge dragon. The Dragon Bridge, adorned with famous dragon statues, appears in the most recognizable images of Ljubljana .

Lake Bled Bled is a symbol of Slovenia’s beauty, and has been ranked in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List of the top ten must-see global destinations. Bled was nominated one of the seven new wonders of the world. This Alpine lake with the only island in Slovenia has been a world-renowned paradise for centuries, impressing visitors with its natural beauty, wealth of legend, and special powers to restore well- being. There is also a story about the Bled bell. The church bell, made in the early 16 th  century, is said to have come from the pope himself. The story goes that he gave it to the church after the original bell, sent to the island by an inconsolable widow in remembrance of her late husband, ended up sinking to the bottom of the lake in a storm. So, Bled really has a pair of legendary bells: the one in the church and the one on the bottom of the lake. The legend about the sunken bell is brought to life every year by a special Christmas event.

Piran : the town of salt The most beautiful town on the Slovenian coast grew with the help of salt. The Piran salt pans, where the world-class fleur de sel (flower of salt) is still produced today using age-old methods, were the reason why the picturesque Mediterranean walled town, with its church with a view and cultural attractions, flourished .

Postojna Cave The most visited tourist cave in Europe is a place where the proteus or olm offspring are once again hatching. The cave railway has been operating at the cave for 140 years. Predjama Castle is located close to Postojna Cave and is the largest cave castle in the world.

Soča Valley The River Soča , which has a distinct emerald green colour , is considered to be  one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe . Its water flows across waterfalls, small waterfalls, and cascades as well as through narrow rocky gorges, and along the way it has carved surprising canyons and pools. The river and its tributaries excite the lovers of natural beauty and seekers of adventurous water sports , such as  wildwater kayaking, rafting, canyoning  etc. A renowned fish lives in the River Soča –  the Soča Trout , which attracts fishermen from all over the world. The mountainous landscape above the River Soča was the scene of the largest mountain battle in history during World War I.

Logar Valley The Logar Valley ( Logarska dolina ) is one of the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in Europe. The harmonic balance between tradition, man and nature that found its home in this part of the Solčava Region is both exceptional and difficult to find. Make your stay in this peaceful landscape park an opportunity for hiking, cycling, horseback riding or a photo safari. The park has also won the international CIPRA Future in the Alps Award for successful management of the protected area.

Castles Slovenia is rich in castles, manors, fortresses, and fortification systems. These were built at various times during the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, and the first traces of their construction date all the way back to antiquity. Time got the better of many of them, but dozens now fulfil interesting functions. Hundreds of castles could once be found around Slovenian lands, but many have been overtaken by unpredictable historical events. Only ruins remain, which excite the people of today due to the stories hidden within the thick walls and the beautiful views of the picturesque landscape. Quite a few mighty buildings survived the test of time; in these you can now see various exhibitions and shows, listen to concerts, dine, spend the night,or experience the wedding of your dreams.

Slovenian cuisine Slovenia is sandwiched between Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia, with a thin sliver of the country hugging the Adriatic Sea. Consequently, Slovenians have ‘borrowed’ the best from their neighbours and made it their own. Pasta and pastries are reminiscent of Italy, strudels from Austria and carb -heavy stews, potatoes and dumplings taste like the Balkans. There isn’t one flavour or dish that defines Slovenian cuisine. And, with more than half of the country covered in forest, fresh produce certainly isn’t difficult to come by. As such, traditional Slovenian food develops around what’s available or in season. So, wherever you are in the country, seek out the local delicacies. You won’t come across the same flavours twice. There are some traditional Slovenian dishes like dumplings, kremna rezina, kranjska klobasa, pogaca, trout and etc.

Thank you for attention!
