Social causes of Disease

There are totally four important social causes that leads to disease There are 1. Socio economical status 2. Physiological risk factors 3. Behavior risk factors 4. Psychological risk factors

SOCIO ECONOMICAL STATUS Social status (relating to society) of a person indirectly responsible for disease Economical status (relating to money) of a person indirectly cause the disease Eg . Poverty, very less income, poor housing, inadequate healthy food, low education, low occupational status, dangerous work, stressful work, polluted environment, discrimination etc.

PHYSIOLOGICAL RISK FACTORS Physiology= functioning of body Improper functioning of the body leads to disease either directly or indirectly It is an illness that interferes with the way that the functions of the body are carried out. As a result of the incorrect functioning, certain effects will be seen in the body. This could be done to several reasons. For example, there may be too little or too much of a substance in the body, deterioration of certain cell types or blockages of pathways. Eg . Weak heart leads to hypertension, weak immune system causes microbial diseases, hypercholesterolemia, genetic factors etc.

PSYCHOLOGICAL RISK FACTORS Our behavior and attitudes are critical in keeping us healthy, helping us regain health following illness, and helping us achieve well being. Psychological factors are major contributors to medical illness and disease If a person is frequently scolding/ blaming by society, friend or public then his mental behavior changes and leads to his various mental disorder and finally disease. Eg . Isolation, lack of social support, low of self esteem, self blame, hopelessness etc. Psychological factors can also affect many physiological conditions

SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF SICK

Social problems of sick sick is defined as inability of person to mingle with society due to physical or mental ill. There are different types of social problems which causes individual to sick. For example- illiteracy, employment problem, brain drain, social relationship, loss of independence, communication problem, dining problem etc.

Illiteracy- if a person not educated, then he feel guilty to mingle with society, leads to stress and sick Reasons- inability to learn, lack of funds for education, expensive higher education, lack of good teachers in his primary education etc. Brain drain- in India when intelligent, talented and well deserving candidates do not get acceptable jobs, they will settle in abroad because of jobs, India is deprived of good talent. This concept is called as Brain drain.

Employment problem- In India, job opportunities are not increasing as per the ratio of increase population. Lack of job makes the person to mingle freely with others and to mingle with society. This make him/her to sick. Social relationship- Smaller persons, hearing impaired persons, mentally retard persons generally not interact with society because of threat or insulting by society. This makes those persons mentally ill and finally sick.

Loss of independence- situation of disabled persons, paralyzed persons is worse and they loss freedom because they totally depend on other for regular activities like eating, bathing, dressing which leads to quality life and cause sick. Communication problems- people with numbness, stuttering, with lack of free speech, stage fear have difficulty in expressing themselves in society. They cannot be mingle with friends, other people and society feels them are guilty and cause sick.

Dinning problem- who have chronic illness needs special diet or controlled diet. Eg . Low salt food for hypertensive persons, low sugar foods for diabetes persons
