Modernization : Modernization is a process which brings desired types of changes in material as well as non-material culture including the way of life as a whole. It brings positive changes in the social, economic, industrial, technological, cultural, moral, religious and educational structure, value orientations, motivations, achievements and aspirations. It means a value change, significant institutional modifications and improvement. Thus, social change is brought about by a number of factors such as geographical, biological, demographic, technological, industrial, economic, ideological, cultural, psychological, educational and voluntary acts of the individual. Westernization, industrialization, politicalization, urbanization, secularization, mechanicalization, democratization, monopolization, capitalism, culturalization, materialism, Indianization and modernization are the major factors influencing social change in India. It may thus be said that social changes are not caused by any one single factor, but as Talcot Parson says, "there is plurality of possible origins of change
