INTRODUCTION- When all the members of a society follow the norms, values, laws and the regulations of the society then it considered as an organized society which in turn ensures the welfare and well being of all its members. • However, due to various factors, sometimes, it seems not possible for a society to maintain those rules and norms then it creates a situation of disorder and instability in the society which adversely impacts the smooth functioning of the social system. • An organized society is marked by sincerity, obedience and loyalty of all its members who follow the rules and norms. Although there are circumstances in which people have the tendency developed in mind to disobey or disregard such accepted rules or norms. This creates the situation of social disorganization. SOCIAL DISORGANIZATION

MEANING D isorganization means breaking or dismantling or dispersing of the social system, social institutions and social Relationships 2)It increases when there is no general agreement and individuals define theimportant interests of the society in purely individualistic terms. 3) When there is a change in the equilibrium of forces or a breakdown of the social structure

According to Ogburn and Nimkoff , “ Social Disorganization implies some breakdown in cultural contact, some disturbance in the equilibrium among the various aspects of the cultural pattern”. • According to Elliot and Francis, “Social Disorganization is the process by which the relationship between the members of a group are broken or dissolved’’ DEFINITION

Psychological factors - include the social processes like imitation, conflict, competition, accommodation. Cultural factors : maladjustment in the existing institutions, cultural lag, cultural conflict. Biological factors : include population explosion, interracial marriages, inter caste marriages. physical factors - include storms, earthquake, sea currents, tsunami etc. Social Problems - include unemployment., corruption. Degeneration of values includes wars, criminality suicides etc Others causes includes confusion of roles, lack of proper planning etc CAUSES OF SOCIAL DISORGANIZATION

Social Control refers to enforcing the values and patterns of the society in the unruly and undisciplined members. Various means of social control are used for maintaining order and stability in the society. Social control can also be exercised in form of reward and punishment, it means rewarding for doing good and punishing for offense CONTROL OF SCOCIAL DISORGANIZATION

Broadly , there are three agencies of social control, viz. 1. Family 2. Neighborhood 3. Public opinion Agencies of social Control
