Introduction
Field learning plays a leading role in social work
education, and as such, social work educators and field
instructors need to know how their students learn and
develop during the field education experience; by being
aware of the ways in which students learn and develop in
social work agencies, educators and instructors can
better understand students’ educational needs and find
ways to best support them through the learning process
in practice. provides them a unique opportunity to
deepen their knowledge about the social work profession
through active participation in it. Throughout their
practical experience, students are able to work with
actual Field Learning in Social Work Education.
Field Work Practice Is give opportunities for Social
work trainee to apply social work practice in agency and
community it helps to develop skills and knowledge.
As
A part of the first semester master of social work field
practicum trainee has placed in Special school of
mentally challenged, Mannar gudi for concerned field
work from August 10 to October 27.
OBJECTIVE OF FIELD WORK
The fieldwork program has been designed to achieve
the following objectives:
To improve the social work trainee knowledge, skills
and value in social work agency.
To gain knowledge in social work practice with
individual , group and community.
To trainee understand duties and responsibility of
social work agency.
To development of professional skill.
To apply social work method and technique in
practice
To analyze social issue.
To know about hoe solve the problems in different
field.
To work as motivator ,therapist, facilitator etc.
PROFILE OF THE AGENCY
Special school of mentally challenged mannar gudi is
under the program of sarva siksha abhiyan [SSA]
,government of India. This agency have two programs
called early intervention center and school readiness
program . In this agency giving intervention to mentally
challenged children .
Agency supervisor name is Mr.
Ravichandran .In that school have 5 special teacher ,1
therapist, 1 care taker and 1 assistence. there are 33
children in special mentally challenge school. 15 children
in early intervention center and 18 childrens in school
readiness program. It provide and development of
mentally challenged childrens in group therapy,psycho
therapy,physiotherapy, and conducting activities and
providing treatment.
Objectives of field work agency
To development of mentally challenged children.
To solve psycho social problems of special able
children.
To provide governmental facilities for special able
children.
To recreational and voluntary activities.
To build peace full and happy life for mental
challenged student.
To give awareness about special able children
their problem and solution for parents and public.
To give education.
To remove social barrier about mentally retried
children.
To give treatment for who facing problem in
mentally , physically, emotionally,
psychologically.
To provide benefit of sarva shiksha abhiyan and
free and compulsory education.
Structure of the agency
FUNCTION OF THE AGENCY
Early intervention center:
Early Intervention Centres for Children with Mental
Retardation in the age group of 0-6 years have been
established In Tamilunadu . These centres aim at
training the children, their parents and families to
maximise their capabilities in mobility, day-to-day
living, socialization and other skill.

School readiness program:
School readiness program is for children mental
retardation in the age group 6 -18 years . To
provide skill education ,learning .

Visited chief education office Thiruvarur and interacted with Sarva
Shiksha Abhiyan [SSA] District co-ordinator.
Collected information about special school .
Collected information about mental disorder,
Autism, mental illness and that symptoms, causes, treatment .
Interacted with early intervention center children.
Conducted activities for early intervention center children
Activities like:

*picking the colours, animal, birds and fruits.
Interacted with Sarva Shiksha abhiyan Mannargudi block
co-ordinator.Mr.Ravichandran he given information about

,HE GIVING TREATMENT IN WEEKLY TWO DAYS AFTER ONE MONTH
CHILD ARISE PIDS PROBLEMS DOCTOR LEFT FROM THEIR.
FOR THIS NEARLY WASTED MORETHAN 8 LAKHS RUPEES,NOT EVEN
USEFULL THAT TREATMENT
AFTER THAT CONSELTED VELLUR CHIRTIAN HOSPITAL[CMC] AND
THEIR GOT GOOD TREATMENT AND DEVELOPMENT IN CHILD.IN THEIR
EXPENSE ALSO LESS.

CONCLUSION
As the part of the curriculum system, Social work trainee
successfully completed the field work days. Field work
placement is an opportunity for social work trainees to practice
and enrich experiences. It was an excellent exposure to the
trainee. The trainee was able to meet, interact, observe and learn
from various people and staffs in agency. Through this the
trainee experience the trainee gained more knowledge about the
agency and its functions.
