Some Questions & Answers Teacher: Depending upon the food habit, we can categorize people as Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian. Question What do you mean by vegetarian food habit? Answer Vegetarian people eat only plant products. Question What do you mean by non-vegetarian food habit? Answer Non-vegetarian people eat meat of animals apart from eating plant products.
Introduction You know cadets; Most of us eat both plant products and meat of other animals. We also eat eatables made from milk. To let you know whether non-vegetarian food habits have an advantage over the vegetarians. We will discuss about the Animal sources of food today.
Poultry Products & Dairy Products Poultry Products: The eatables such as egg and meat obtained from birds are known as Poultry products. e.g . We eat eggs of Duck, Hen, Goose etc. We also meat of Hen, Chicken, Duck, Pigeons etc. Other Animal Sources: We eat the meat of Goat, Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Duck etc. Honey is made by Bees from the Nectar (a sweet liquid) of flowers. It is rich in sugars and has some antiseptic properties. Dairy Products: The eatables prepared from milk are termed as Dairy products. e.g. Kheer , Curd, Sweets, Paneer , Cheese, Ice Cream etc. We get milk from Cow, Buffalo, Goat, Camel, Yak etc.
Importance of Animal sources of food: Most of the food that we get from animals is rich in Proteins and Fats. Non-Vegetarians Vs Vegetarians There is no advantage of Non-Vegetarians over the Vegetarians. Non-Vegetarians are eating the meat of Goat, Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Duck etc. which are rich in Proteins and Fats. Vegetarians are eating Dairy products like Kheer , Curd, Sweets, Paneer , Cheese, Ice Cream etc. which are also rich in Proteins and Fats.
