Self esteem refers to a positive overall evaluation of oneself β a feeling that one is competent to cope with lifeβs challenges and worthy of happiness Self concept is what we think about ourselves Self esteem is what we feel about ourselves

π β Attain legitimate accomplishments: π Persons must also engage in behaviours and make choices that are worthy of esteem. Person establishes a goal Person pursues the goal Person achieves the goal Person develops esteem-like feelings
π β Be aware of personal strengths π β Minimize settings and interactions that detract from your feelings of competence
π β Talk and socialize frequently with people who boost your self esteem. π β Model the behaviour of people with high self esteem.
π β Self confidence is assuredness in oneβs personal judgement and abilities. π β Self efficacy refers to confidence in oneβs ability to carry out a specific task.
π β Self confidence results from 5 sources of information: π β 1. Personal experiences, or things we have done. π β 2. The experiences of others, or modeling. π β 3. Social comparison.
π β 4. Social persuasion β the process of convincing another person. π β 5. Emotional arousal β how you feel about events around you and how you manage your emotions.
π β 1. Take an inventory of personal assets and accomplishments. π β 2. Develop a solid knowledge base.
π β 3. Use positive self- talk. π β 4. Avoid negative self talk State the incident/ problem objectively Interpret what the incident does not mean State what it does mean Account for the cause of the incident Identify positive ways to prevent a reoccurrence Use positive self talk
π β 4. Use positive visual imagery 5. Set high expectations for yourself
π β 6. Strive for peak performance π β 7. Behave as if you feel confident π β 8. Bounce back from setbacks and embarrassments
