must be mastered (Hidayat 2013: 21). Listening
has a big effect on the quality of their
relationships with other people. By listening we
understand the messages told by the speaker
who talk with us.

listening skills is a song media application such
as Spotify. Spotify is an app that has features
like digital music, podcasts and diffusive videos.
In the digital music section, users can play their

This article aims to find out the effectiveness of using songs to increase students' listening.
Particularly, if Spotify could help toward that goal. The study uses an experimental design, so there are
pre-test and post-test. In short, the researchers found positive impact by using Spotify.
Strengths It could be used anywhere and provides
variety of songs and podcasts.
It's more fun than just some audio files.
Weaknesses Students have to register for the app first.
This could become a problem for students
that does not have a phone or limitation on
internet connection.
Based on the first article, the researcher came to a conclusion that the Spotify application in
teaching listening skills to students X MIPA 2 for the 2021–2022 academic year can be used to verify
the efficacy of using the Spotify application. Discussion results revealed that the Spotify application
could increase students' interest in and motivation for learning listening during the lesson. Hence, it
may be said that the article supports the Pro's viewpoint.

This research reported the issues of using Georgina’s podcast on Spotify to improve student’s listening
skills. This research aimed at figure out the improvement of the students’ listening ability in listening
skills by using the Spotify application as a tool that focused on listening to Georgina’s podcast in subject
asking and giving directions. The results of the test and the related comparisons, findings showed that
Georgina’s podcast on Spotify is effective to improve students’ listening skills. However, the success of
podcasting depends on the teacher's ability to use Spotify and the selection of appropriate material in a
way that guides students to achieve their learning goals.

asking and giving directions.
Weaknesses There are a lot of ads when listening to
podcasts on Spotify, and it requires a paid
premium version to get rid of the ads.
Using Spotify for Podcasts can be
ineffective as it requires an internet
connection to use Spotify.
Based on the second article, the researcher concluded that Georgina’s podcast on Spotify positively
influences students’ listening skills in asking and direction matters. Discussion results revealed that
Georgina’s podcast on the Spotify application benefits teacher and students and significantly
contributes to improving students’ listening skills. Hence, it may be said that the article supports the
Pro's viewpoint.

Conclusion
From the articles that we are reviewed, Spotify gives a results in improving
student’s listening. In first article, stated that Spotify gives a positive result
that it could increase students' interest and motivated to learn to listen
because they can listen to any song they want. Same goes to the second
article, stated that Spotify has achieved positive results in influence students’
listening skills in subject asking and giving direction, especially in the
Georgina’s podcast form.
Thus, from both articles can be concluded that Spotify gives positive results to
the students as a whole app or chooses podcasts only.
