Squaring numbers between 40 & 50 and 50 & 60

Step 1 Subtract the number from 50. Squaring numbers Between 40 and 50 Step 2 Subtract the result (from Step 1) from 25. Step 3 Square the result from Step 1 (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) Step 4 Place the result from Step 3 next to the result from Step 2.

Example # 01: 48 2 Step 1. Subtract the number from 50. 50 – 48 = 2 Step 2. Subtract the result (from Step 1) from 25. 25 – 2 = 23 Step 3. Square the result from Step 1 (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) 2 2 = 04 Step 4. Place the result from Step 3 next to the result from Step 2. 23_04 = 2304 Answer: 48 2 = 2304

Example # 02: 42 2 Step 1. Subtract the number from 50. 50 – 42 = 8 Step 2 . Subtract the result (from Step 1) from 25. 25 – 8 = 17 Step 3. Square the result from Step 1 (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) 8 2 = 64 Step 4. Place the result from Step 3 next to the result from Step 2. 17_64 = 1764 Answer: 42 2 = 1764

Let’s try! 41 2 Ans wer : 1 , 681

One more! 46 2 Ans wer : 2 , 116

= 4, 250 A LITTLE HARDER! 43 2 + 49 2

= 261 Last one! 45 2 - 42 2

Step 1 Add the ones digit to 25. Squaring numbers Between 5 and 6 Step 2 Square the ones digit (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) Step 3 Place the result from Step 2 next to the result from Step 1.

Example # 01: 53 2 Step 1. Add the ones digit to 25. 25 + 3 = 28 Step 2. Square the ones digit (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) 3 2 = 09 Step 3. Place the result from Step 2 next to the result from Step 1. 28_09 = 2809 Answer: 53 2 = 2809

Example # 01: 58 2 Step 1. Add the ones digit to 25. 25 + 8 = 33 Step 2. Square the ones digit (if the result is a single digit, put a 0 in front of it) 8 2 = 64 Step 3. Place the result from Step 2 next to the result from Step 1. 33_64 = 3364 Answer: 58 2 = 3364

Let’s try! 5 1 2 Ans wer : 2, 601

One more! 5 6 2 Ans wer : 3, 136

= 5 , 305 A LITTLE HARDER! 51 2 + 52 2
