Objectives Determine the minimum requirements needed for congruent triangles; Illustrates the SSS congruence; Appreciate the importance of triangle congruence postulate in a real-life situation.
ACTIVITY 1 “ SIde Up”
DIRECTION: 1: Draw a large scalene triangle on your paper
2: Copy the three sides separately onto another paper and mark with a dot each endpoint. Cut the paper into three strips with one side on each strip.
3. Arrange the three segments into a triangle by placing one endpoint on top of the another.
4: With a third paper, trace the triangle formed. Compare the new triangle with the original triangle.
What happened when we copied and cut out the three sides of the triangle?
Why do you think the new triangle matched the original one?
Sss congruence postulate If three sides of one triangle are congruent to the corresponding three sides of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
If 𝐴𝐵̅̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐷𝐸̅̅̅̅, ̅𝐵𝐶̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐸𝐹̅̅̅̅, 𝐶𝐴̅̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐹𝐷̅̅̅̅, then ∆ABC ≅ ∆DEF by SSS Congruence Postulate
∆ABC ≅ ∆DEF S (side) 𝐴𝐵̅̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐷𝐸̅̅̅̅ S (side) 𝐵𝐶̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐸𝐹̅̅̅̅ S (side) 𝐶𝐴̅̅̅̅ ≅ 𝐹𝐷̅̅̅̅
EXAMPLE #1: ,
