INTRODUCTION Garment Industry in India : The garment industry in India has shown significant growth and evolution over the last five years, becoming a key player in the global market. This industry has faced challenges including fluctuations in raw material costs, evolving consumer preferences and competition from the other manufacturing hubs.

OBJECTIVE This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current status of the garment industry in India, highlighting key trends in production, marketing, distribution, consumption and export patterns over the past five years

PRODUCTION TRENDS India is one of the largest producers of cotton and jute in the world. India has also become the second-largest manufacturer of PPE in the world. The domestic apparel & textile industry in India contributed to 2% to the country’s GDP, 7% of industry output in value terms. The market size of the industry is projected to grow at a 10% CAGR to reach $350 Bn by 2030. The number of enterprises in the Textiles market is projected to amount to 17.25k in 2024.

The industry is looking at new markets such as Latin America, Australia, and Israel to boost exports. In Feb 2024, exports of Indian textiles grew 19.54%.
