Introduction of stress Stress is a common feeling we get when we feel under pressure , overwhelmed or unable to cope . Small amounts of stress can be good for us and motivate us to achieve goals like taking an exam or giving a speech. But too much of it, especially when it feels out of control, can negatively impact our mood, physical and mental well-being and relationships.

Type of stress Stress factors broadly fall into four types or categories: physical stress psychological stress Psychosocial stress psycho-spiritual stress

Physical stress Physical stress is a type of stress that affects the body . It occurs when a person experiences stress for an extended period of time, which can lead to changes in the body. Some symptoms of physical stress include muscle tension, headaches, and fatigue . Symptoms Sleeplessness Social Withdrawal Specific Phobias Sweating/Trembling Digestive Issues Panic

Psychological stress Psychological stress is a popular term denoting processes believed to contribute to the onset and maintenance of a variety of mental and physical conditions . Despite widespread interest in psychological stress and its consequences for health and well-being, debate remains about how to best define the term . Symptoms Heart disease High blood pressure Diabetes Obesity Depression or anxiety Skin conditions, like eczema or acne Changes in menstruation (periods)

Psychosocial stress Psychosocial stress is a form of stress that is experienced due to changes in social situations . When psychosocial stress becomes chronic, the effects can be physically debilitating and lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, and even addictive behavior. Symptoms relationship conflicts at home new or increasing work responsibilities increasing demands financial strain loss of a loved one health problems moving to a new location

psycho-spiritual stress A crisis of values, meaning, and purpose; joyless striving (instead of productive, satisfying, meaningful and fulfilling work; and a misalignment within one's core spiritual beliefs. Symptoms Feelings of anger or hopelessness. Feelings of depression and anxiety. Difficulty sleeping. Feeling abandoned by God. Questioning the meaning of life or suffering. Questioning beliefs or sudden doubt in spiritual or religious beliefs. Asking why this situation occurred .

Case study: 01 Stress and depression • Name: Malar • Gender: female • Age: 16 • Education: O – level • Place: Maskeyliya Family background Malar is the only daughter for Devi. She is mother. She is working as a tea estate employee. Her husband passed away. However, devi care very much for her daughter. Devi believes her daughter o- level results. Because she spent more times and money for her studies. And also, she is the mile stone of her family ‘s future. Devi believes malar’s studies only turning point. they can come out tea estate line structure. Marlar hasn’t sister and brothers. When she finished the school, she stays alone in the home.

Education background Malar passed grade five scholarship exam. That’s why her mother change malar school. Now malar studies in town school. She walks long time to take the bus to go to the school, however she studies very well. She hasn’t more friends, she spends more time for studies. She gets good marks and every exam. And she shifts o- level exam also. When o level exam result came, she very upset. But she gets good results. She received 7A and 2B. Medical background She hasn’t any medical issues.

Present problem When malar received O – level result. She unhappy. she hurt herself, She rejects to come out. she didn’t eat properly. She stays alone. She always over thinking, she didn’t sleep properly. She tries to suicide. Her mother come to the counseling for, after O – level results, she couldn’t open a mind to say anything. Treatment 1. session (01): discuss client and counselor (note client statement – family problem, school problem, health condition) 2. session (02): find client specific problem (stressors) and find the courses and not the systems Example: stressor – comparation, over believe symptoms - fear, feel alone, avoiding people 3. session (03): according to the symptom, start the treatment for the client Example: talking therapy, motivation speech, CBT 4. Session (04): monitor and evaluate (client present activities)

Name : mala Age : 15 Gender : female Occupation : N/A Education qualification : Grade 10 Location : Hatton tea garden Family background : Mala is the first child in her family. Her went abord for work (house maid ). When her mother went abroad, she left the school to take the family responsibility. Her father hasn’t any work. He is not responsible person in the family and also every day he use Alcohol. However mala take her mother role in the family. He care about her two sister and brother. She cooked for them, she clean her home and she do every home work herself. Now a days mala friends cycle was down. Long time she stay at home lonely. Her friends shift the o level exam. She avoid to meet anyone. She contribute the home morning to midnight.

Her father rape her She had stop period, she didn’t know When she feel body changes she thought something will happen She avoid the people She stop to come out side She hate family She didn’t sleep She didn’t eat properly She fear to her father She try to get some medicine

After that , nabour search about her activities Now a days change every thing she is heavy depression. She is not open the month to tell anything about other. They inform estate midwife. She went mala home. Ask her problem to take for counselling Note : However baby was miscarriage,
