What is STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY ( SII) assessment? Strong Interest Inventory assessment is a career planning tool that measures your interests over several categories such as school subjects, work activities and leisure activities. It uses your answers to match your interests with various careers and work environments you are likely to enjoy and where you can find success.

Strong Interest Inventory : It is an interest inventory used for career assessment. As such career assessment may be used in career counselling. The goal of this assessment is to give an insight into a person’s interests, so that they may have less difficulty in deciding on an appropriate career choice for themselves.

Strong Interest Inventory : History Developed and pioneered measurement of vocational interest in 1927 The instrument drawn up is Strong Vocational Interest Bank It was changed into Strong- Campbell Interest Inventory ( SCII) when test developed version for men and women. Revisions have been operated by Hansen and Campbell ( 1985 ), Borgen ( 1988 ), and Hansen ( 1992 ) Edward Kellog Strong, Jr.

Now, it is called Strong Interest Inventory since Campbell is no longer involved. The modern version of 2004 is based on Holland Codes of Psychologist John L. Holland. Strong Interest Inventory : History

SCII Theoretical Background SII is mainly used as means of supporting clients in their decision – making concerning long- term career planning,studies ,future occupation or profession. It is for “ anyone in need of help with their career or in making decision regarding their lifestyle” ( Hansen, 1992).

SCII Theoretical Background Strong theorized that within a particular professions are people with particular interests. This inventory supports clients already employed with the process of understanding professional dissatisfaction,offers by means of counseling some solutions regarding the personal lifestyle and career development throughout life.

Below is an example to be answered: I like I neither like or dislike I dislike I like to be an actor. I like botanical science I like writing reports . Etc .

Methods of Presentation SCII comprises: Six General Occupational Themes ( using Holland Codes for profiles of “Occupational Personality”); and The 23 scales of basic interest
