stylistics Stylistics is the science which explores how readers interact with the language of (mainly literary) texts in order to explain how we understand, and are affected by text when we read them

Stylistics Is the scientific study of style, which can be viewed in several ways. More technically, stylistics is the study of the linguistic features of literary text phonological, lexical, syntactical which directly affects the meaning of an utterance. The variety in stylistics is due to the main influence of linguistics & literary.

What is the style in the context of stylistics Style is primarily a quality of writing Today the word style has a very broad meaning. We speak of style only in literature but also in architecture, painting, clothes, behavior, music, work, and so on. In fact the concept of style can be applied to any kind of human activity that may be performed in more than one way, and also to the result of such an activity.

The origin of stylistics Stylistics is a branch of linguistics which investigates the entire system of expressive resources available in a particular language The word-stylistics was firstly attested in the oxford English dictionary only in 1882, meaning the science of literary style, the study of stylistics features.

Types of stylistics Linguistic stylistics Studies the devices in language of literary texts (such as rhetorical figures and syntactical patterns) that are employed to produce expressive or literary style. Literary stylistics Established methods of close reading or practical criticism of texts, the procedures of literary stylistics remain traditional in character in spite of development in literary theory which assumption about the role of language in depicting literary realities.

Lexical stylistics Studies function of direct and figurative meanings. Also the way contextual meaning of a word is realized in the text Deals with various type of connotation-expressive, evaluative, dialectal words and their behavior in the text.

Phonostylistics It is phonetical organization of prose and poetic texts Here are included rhythm, rhythmical structure, rhyme, alliteration, and correlation of the sound form and meaning Also studies deviation in normative pronunciation

Comparative stylistics It connected with the contrastive study of more than one language It analyses the stylistics resources not inherent in a separate language but at the crossroads of two language, or two literature and is obviously linked to the theory translation.

Grammatical stylistics Subdivided into morphological and syntactical: Morphological stylistics views stylistic potential of grammatical categories of different parts of speech. Syntactical stylistics studies syntactic, expressive means, word order and word combination, different types of sentences and types of syntactic connections. Also deals with origin of the text, its division on paragraph, dialogs, direct and indirect speech, the connection of sentences, types of sentences.

Individual style study Studies the style of the author Looks for correlation of the author and the language of his work

Stylistics of decoding Deal with all subdivision of the language and its possible use (newspaper, colloquial style). Its object-correlation of the message and communicative situation

Stylistics of encoding The shape of the information (message) is coded and addressee plays the part of decoder of the information which is contained in message The problems which are connected with adequate reception of message without any loses ( deformation) are the problems of stylistics of encoding.

The need for the study of stylistics Style is an integral part of meaning. With out the sense of style we cannot arrive at a better understanding of an utterance Stylistic study sharpens the understanding and appreciation of literary works Stylistic study helps achieve adaption in translation It can prompt, direct, and shape it into an understanding.
