WHAT IS HOUSEKEEPING In a luxury hotel, the housekeeping department is responsible for maintaining impeccable cleanliness and orderliness throughout the premises. The housekeeping team comprises dedicated professionals who meticulously clean and maintain guest rooms, public areas, and other hotel facilities.

1. CONTROL DESK

What is Control Desk ? Housekeeping control desk is the nerve Centre of the entire Housekeeping department. It is the. contact point between the guest, Housekeeping staff and other departments. Recording Hotel room numbers especially of the groups. Recording room numbers of crews staying in the Hotel. Maintaining night cleaning schedule. Keeping records of VIPs staying in the Hotel. Making weekly cleaning schedule & follow them. Preparing daily roster of general Housekeeping staffs and supervisors. Any relevant information about in house Hotel guest that may Be necessary.

2. LOST AND FOUND In Hotels

What is Lost and Found ? An item left behind by guest either in the room or in public area identified by any staff and brought under the notice of Housekeeping is termed as “Lost and Found” item. There should be one dedicated location to receive lost and found items whether it is found in guestrooms, meeting rooms, public area or restaurants.

3. PEST CONTROL

What is Pest Control ? As the term itself suggests, pest control means the removal of every pests. It is the duty of the housekeeping department to check whether every room is clean and pest free or not.

4. HORTICULTURE

What is Horticulture ? Horticulturist. She/he leads a team of gardeners in maintaining the landscape, gardens of the hotel as well as in supplying flowers from the gardens for flower arrangements in the hotel. Flowers are used largely by the house-keeping department to aesthetically enhance various areas of the hotel.

5. UNIFORM ROOM

What is Uniform Room ? UNIFORM ROOM The uniform room is a central depot for hotel staff uniform and this is the place from where clean articles are distributed throughout the establishment. The uniform room always exists in close association with the linen room. The bulk of clean uniform is stored here.

6. LINEN ROOM

What is Linen Room ? The word 'linen' or 'house linen' is used collectively to describe all launederable items maintained, stored, and issued for guest use by the housekeeping department in a hotel. Linen is Material Woven from a fiber of Flax plant.

7. LAUNDRY

What is Laundry ? Laundry is an area designated for cleaning, ironing and finishing dirty linen, uniforms and guest laundry of the hotel. This area is equipped with suitable machinery and has skilled & trained manpower to deal with fabrics.
