3. Subject- verb agreement: Subjects joined by “And” generally take a plural verb. Ex: 1- Sarah and Maria are good students. 2- Three women and a man make up conference committee. 3-Maya Angelou and John Didion write about personal experiences.

4. Compound subjects that name only one person, thing, place, or idea take a singular verb. Ex: New York city is a lovely city. Cairo festival city mall has many shops in it.

5. Singular subjects joined by or, or not take a singular verb. Ex: Either a nurse or a doctor will come to check him. The doctor not the nurse has come

6. When a singular subject and a plural subject are joined by “OR” or “NOR”, the verb agrees with the subject nearer the verb. Ex: Neither the puppies or their mom has torn a hole in the chair. “ The mom” is the nearer subject to the verb “has torn”
