SUMMARY Participants support the objectives of the event; Ensuring work that is already underway is joined up and connected. UNDP and Embassy of Sweden spoke of the progress that has been made in Bangladesh in increasing broader sustainability goals and the priority of these institutions to support Bangladesh to emerge as a global leader. The government of Bangladesh (Ministry of Environment, Power Division, SREDA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) remain committed to accelerating transition to renewables; They requested that the participants be pragmatic and as they look for solutions, they also consider concrete recommendations while considering local challenges; Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world; Many initiatives going on mitigation and adaptation. To address these challenges, there needs to be progress on climate finance and technology transfer.

Exploring PPAs as a solution + Financing RE Expert sessions diving into possible solutions – what worked in other geographies; What lessons can be applied Lessons learned Change can be quick, and progress can be quickly scaled Solutions exists, and mechanisms can be applied with or without policy intervention complications; Need to identify incentives for action for involved stakeholders; Need to agree on the collective risk ownership (stick to it in good and bad times); Private sector is committed; the creativity and ingenuity of the industry needs leveraging Financing RE Opportunity to identify financing for renewable energy – connect it to the grid Need for fiscal and tax incentives; upgrade of tariffs; Simplify certification process

NEXT STEPS Going forward We are here today because we want to create the change that the world needs; We need to bring people along; make sure all stakeholders understand what goes on and what can be the best way forward; Identifying ways to increase RE in the national grid; Work further with Fashion Charter signatories to identify concrete collective opportunities; Sharing best practices on standards, new technologies and policy design; Continue dialogue with Bangladesh government through such convenings and via the intergovernmental process; A detailed report of this meeting in the next 2 weeks with recommendations that came out of the dialogue.
