2. calculation Theoretically how much quantity of base is needed= a gm total weight of suppositories (base +drug ) practically= b gm Amount of base needed(100-X %) = b x (100-X) /100 =C gm Amount of medicament present in suppositories = b * x/100= d gm Amount of base replaced d gm of drug = a-c gm Displacement value = d/a-c

3. Calculate the displacement value of zinc oxide in theobromo oil suppositories containing 40% of zinc oxide and prepared in a 1 g mould .weight of a 8 suppositories is 11.74g? Weight of 8 suppositories containing theobromo oil =1x8=8g Weight of 8 suppositories containing 40% of zinc oxide= 11.74 g Amount of theobromo oil present in 8 suppositories = 60/100 x11.74= 7.044 g Amount of medicament present in 8 suppositories= 40/100 x11.74=4.696 g Amount of base replaced 4.696 g of drug = 8-7.044 =0.956g Displacement value =4.696/0.956 =4.912 = 5 appox

4. Prepare and dispense the idoform suppositories Rx Idoform -0.9 gm Cocoa butter sufficent quantity make the suppositories send 8 suppositories of 2 g each? the quantity of cocoa butter required = total amount of base- total amount of drug Displacement value 20 (2*10) – 0.9*10 4 20-2.25 =17.75g
