Surah al muzammil

1. What does Al- Muzammil means? The title of this Surah is based on the opening word “Muzammil” meaning wrapped in garments.

2. What does Qiyam-ul- Layl mean? ‘ Qiyam al-Layl’ means 'standing at night'. This is the voluntary night prayer, whose time extends after the Isha prayer (the last of the five obligatory prayers, whose time extends from the disappearance of the reddish light in the sky until the middle of the night) until dawn . Qiyam ul Layl is optional but it is much recommended prayer.

3. What does the word Tarteel means? The proper method of reciting the Quran. The Quran should be recited with a slow rhythmic tone (tarteel ). It doesn’t mean we should sing the Quran by shortening or stretching the words . Reciting the Quran according to the rules of tajweed imitates the recitation of Muhammad (S.A.W) and his companions.

4. Introduction This surah has 20 ayaat. First 19 ayaat were revealed in Makah and the last ayah was revealed in Madinah.

5. Continues…..   Allah commanded Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) to get up and prepare him self for this great mission so he stood up for night prayer , it was required on prophet to strengthen his heart for what was coming up next.

6. In ayah 4 of this surah Allah describes Quran as the WORDS OF WEIGHT. Al Quran is a heavy responsibility towards Allah . Its against the kuffar and hypocrites. Heavy in the Arabic language can mean in high honor
