TOPIC: DETECTION AND TRANSMISSION OF TACTILE SENSATION JALAL AHMAD
#-Interrelation of tactile sensation of touch, pressure and vibration. #-Tactile Receptors. #-Transmission of Tactile Sensation. #-Detection of Vibration, Tickle and Itch. CONTENTS:
Interrelation among sensation of Touch, Pressure and Vibration Touch : Receptors in the skin and tissue immediately beneath the skin. Pressure : sensation result from deformation of deeper tissue. Vibration : result from repetitive sensory signals but receptors are same as for touch and pressure.
Tactile Receptors 1 st … Free Nerve Endings.
Tactile Receptors 2 nd … Meissner’s Corpuscle.
Tactile Receptors 3 rd … Expanded tip Tactile Receptors. E.g. Merkel Discs. Iggo Dome Receptor
Tactile Receptors 4 th … Hair End-Organ.
Tactile Receptors 5 th … Ruffini’s Endings.
Tactile Receptors 6 th … Pacinian Corpuscle.
Transmission of Tactile Signals
Detection of Vibration: Pacinian Corpuscle: 30-800 cycles/sec Meissner’s Corpuscle: 2-80 cycles/sec Detection of Tickle And Itch by Free Nerve Ending: Sensations are transmitted by very small type C nerve fiber.
