TheAmalgamationsGroupenteredthetractorbusiness
in1960.Simpson&Companywasalreadymaking
PerkinsDieselEnginesandthefounderchairmanof
thegroup,Mr.Anantharamakrishnan'sowngreat
interestinagricultureandtheGreenRevolutionin
making,madethegroupgrabtheopportunitytomake
tractorswhenitpresenteditself.
StandardMotorProductsofIndiaLimitedhadbeen
assemblingMasseyFergusontractorsinIndiafor
MasseyFergusonIndia,whichwasaBangalorebased
companyhandlingtheentireMFbusinessinIndia.

9. IMT Tractors
Withahistorystretchingbacktoover70years,IMT-Industrija
mašinaitraktoraisaSerbiantractorandagricultureequipment
manufacturingcompanyandisoneofthemostpopulartractorbrands
inEasternEurope,NorthernAfricaandtheBalkans.
Thefirstfactorywasfoundedin1947asthecentralfoundry.In1949,
thecentralfoundryandafewlocalcompanieswereconsolidatedto
formanewcompany,theMetalInstitutewhichlaterbecametobe
knownasIndustrijamašinaitraktora(Serbianfor‘Industryof
MachineryandTractors’).TAFE,whichhadalongassociationwith
