TAKAYASU’S ARTERITIS INTRODUCTION TAKAYASU’’S ARTERITIS also known as ‘PULSE LESS DISEASE’ that is a rare form vasculitis that affect large arteries mainly aorta and its branches.Its to be an autoimmune disease which mean that the body comes under attack by its own immune system then immune system attacking the blood vessels. INCIDENCE This is rare affecting perhaps one in 2000,000 people .it mostly often occurs in people ages 15-40 years .sometimes affect younger children or middle children especially female than male .

ISHIKAWA’S CRITERIA FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF TAKAYASU ARTERITIS MAJOR CRITERIA LEFT MID SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY DEFINITION The most severe stenosis or occlusion present in the mid portion from the point 1cm proximal to the LEFT VERTEBRAL ARTERY orifice determined by angiography.

MINOR CRITERIA HIGH ESR Unexplained persistent high ESR above 20 mm\h at diagnosis or presence of evidence in patient history .
