2. . Introduction - Definition: Tamra Bhasma is a calcined copper preparation, considered a Rasayana (rejuvenating) agent. Meaning: “Tamra” means copper, “Bhasma” means ash, symbolizing transformation and purification

3. Characteristic of Tamra Bhasma बर्हिकण्ठप्रभं ताम्रं मृतं भवति केवलम् । पिष्टं चूर्णत्वमायाति सरसं येत्सचन्द्रिकम् ॥(Α.Ρ.3/144) Tamra Bhasma is as bright the colour of peacock’s neck and converts into powder form on rubbing. If Tamra is to be incinerated with mercury, it would be shiny.

4. II. Chemical/Phytochemical Composition_ - Copper content: 80-90%, representing the Pitta dosha - Other trace elements: iron, zinc, etc., representing the Tridosha balance
