TIME STUDY
Time Study is more important for our company. The following cycle time study, we are following in every excavation period.
In every week, we are giving all the cycle time report to our company staff. The idea of this report is to identify the machinery
performances.
SHOVEL OPERATING PARAMETERS
CYCLE TIME:
It is the total time taken by a shovel to complete one full cycle of operation starting from the crowding operation into the face to
swinging, dumping and again coming back to the face for crowding operation.
•TOTAL CYCLE TIME= Crowding (Digging, Loading, Hoisting) time + Swinging time towards the truck + Dumping time on the tipper +
Swinging back for crowding operation.
•TOTAL LOADING TIME= No. of passes required by a shovel to fill a tipper + Cycle time by the shovel.
•CYCLE TIME OF A TIPPER= Spotting time + Loading time + Travel time with load + Spotting time discharge + Discharge time + Travel
time with no load + waiting for loading.

CONTROLLED BLASTING
Scope of work: Conventional Drilling and Blasting
Drilling:
Drilling is carried out with jackhammers of 32mm dia.
Blasting
We will be using emulsion explosives and shock tubes (for the down the
hole and for the surface). Sand bags will be placed over the shock tubes
to ensure that the shock tubes are not damaged by mesh. The Link mesh
will be placed on the blasting of 2 meters on all sides. Over the link mesh
blasting mats of sufficient numbers, thickness, size and strength will be
placed to cover the blast completely plus 2 meters on all sides. The
blasting mats will have an overlap of at least 0-0.5 meters. This procedure
will ensure that fly rock is under control. Use of shock tubes of different
timing such as 17 MS, 25 msand 42 mswill ensure that the vibration is
well within control.
Vibration
You will monitor the vibration. All Location structures the vibration limits
for the present site must be fixed in consultation with GC/your consultant.

Permission for blasting
We will obtain for blasting from
the concerned Government
authority; our form 22-
licenseholder will obtain the
necessary approval from the
controller of explosives, once the
permission from the concerned
Government authority is
received. Our Form 22 agent will
obtain the necessary quantities
of explosives and accessories
from the manufacturers store
them in his magazine and supply
them through. Explosive van to
the blasting site Necessary
statutory requirement in this
regard will be taken care of by us.

Clearance at the time of blasting
Machineries are removed to safe distance. Your site in charge will give the clearance. We propose to carry out blasting operations
both in the daytime and in the nighttime. Competent Blaster
Blasting be carried out by competent persons having valid blaster’s certificate all the operations of drilling & blasting will be under
the supervision of experienced personal, who will coordinate with your engineers
Explosive van
We will be engaging two explosive vans i.e. one for explosive and one for accessories, for the transportation of explosives from
magazine to blasting site. We request that a location. For parking the explosive vans is identified and provided by you.
De watering
You adequate pumping arrangement may please be provided to clear the seepage water; rainwater or any other stagnated Water at
the site will do de watering at the worksite.
Transportation
Up to 25km for the place of blasting site

Field Of Methodology
Pre-Blast Survey
This is the first step involved in understanding the preliminaries of the blasting practices
to be followed. In order not to miss any operation, an elaborate survey sheets are
designed. All the details of the blasting block like the hole diameter, burden, spacing,
rock type, face characteristics, hole position, individual hole depths, nature and condition
of holes, type and explosive quantities, initiation system, sequence and delay timings and
other essential parameters should be recorded by the client.
In-Blast Survey
This covers the time period from the first initiation impulse until the broken rock has
come to rest and the vibration from the event have died away. Physical observation of
the fly rock and the efficacy of the stemming to be carried out when blasting under
restricted conditions. An in-blast and post-blast survey sheet for this purpose is given in
written. Vibration monitoring shall be carried out depending on the site-specific
requirements at critical locations.
Post Blast Survey
Post blast survey is essential to assess the relative performance of the blasts.
The after blast debris is the manifestation of the cumulative efforts that have been put in
order to break the rock. In order to establish the level of efficacy of a blast design certain
elements of the broken material like fragmentation, throw, back break, muck profile etc.
are to be assesse.

CONTROL BLASTING
PROCEDURE
Cleaning of Blast Area
All loose stone pieces on the blasting area are to be removed prior to charging of holes,
as these stones will result as fly rock during actual blasting operations in addition to
those from the blast itself.
Marking and Drilling
It is essential that the whole positions be marked in the field using measuring tape with
white/red paid so that the holes are drilled as per the design. While drilling, accuracy is
to be maintained with regard to position of the holes, verticality, burden, spacing depth
etc. Drilling should be done under strict supervision of a competent officer/supervisor.
Drilling should not be left unattended and to the discretion of the drilling crew.
Plugging of drilled holes.
Plug the drilled holes with wooden plugs such that water, mud, drill cutting do not get
into them so that they do not loose their depth.
Transportation of explosives and other accessories.
The contractor only upon completion of drilling shall transport explosives to the drilled
site. No simultaneous drilling and charging to be taken up. All the necessary statutory
requirements for storing of the explosives at a magazine, site, transportation, handling
and usage are to be fulfilled as per government regulation/laws
A licensed shot firer/blaster should be made available at the blasting site for executing
the blasting activities and a competent person from the client should over see all the
drilling and blasting operations.

CONTROL BLASTING
PROCEDURE
Charging of holes.
Priming of explosives should be done at a safe place and charging is to be carried out as
per the approved design. Before charging the holes, if presence of water is found in the
drilled hole, it should be flushed out. Stemming is to be carried out with suggested
material and to a suggested length. The initiation sequence is to be followed as per the
approved initiation system and delay sequencing.
Muffling
No blasting should be carried out without proper muffling. To restrict the flying
fragments from the blast, the blast area shall be muffled comprising of 1” x 1”, 14 SWG
link mesh old rubber tyresof trucks and rubber blasting mats of minimum specified size
and weight. The blasting block shall be covered fully and in addition. 3m on all four sides
of the charged block as shown in Figure4. Sand bags are to be placed over the muffling
material if required. It is necessary to have a barricade around the entire station areas
and cut and cover areas related to these stations. In addition, depending on the local
conditions it may be necessary to erect a canopy of sufficient strength to cover the
proposed excavation site or area.
