Telangana culture and tradition have fascinated art and history lovers all across the country. The 29th state of India, Telangana is also its youngest (or newest) state. Formed on June 2nd, 2014, the name Telangana is derived from the word ‘ Trilinga .’ This is because according to legend, the lingams of Hindu deity Shiva are found on the three mountains that line Telangana boundaries – Kaleshwaram , Srisailam , and Draksharamam . A multicultural province, the cultural history of Telangana dates back almost 5,000 years. Popular as the  South of North and North of South , Telangana is home to diverse cultures, traditions, arts, and religions . Introduction

CULTURE Our culture is what defines us; it is an integral part of our lives, the way we live, the more, traditions and customs that dominate our lives are all a part of our culture. No society can exist without culture, our culture is what binds us together to other people. Our attitudes, values, goals, food, art, literature, music and social beliefs are all the offshoots of it.

BONALU This tradition is celebration as an annual festival of telangana to goddess Ellamma who is honored as mother earth. The festival is considered as thanks giving to the goddess for fulfillment of vows. Bonalu involves the worship of mother goddess in regional forms like Mysamma , Pochamma , yellamma , Peddhamma , Dokkalamma , Ankalamma , poleramma , Maremma , Nookalamma .

BATHUKAMMA The festival brings out the beauty of nature and entire celebration is eco friendly. The preparations rituals are so color full and unique and that they bring joy and happiness to everyone. Bathukamma means “MOTHER GODESS COME TO LIFE” and involves the worship of Maha Gouri - the ‘LIFE GIVER’.

LAMBADI FOLK DANCE It is folk Dance of telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It is a dance form in which the tribal women dance in harmony to the tunes of the drums played by the tribal males. It is done to offer respect to their god and worship for an excellent yield. The beautiful and elegant actions with waists and hands are surely an attractions to all the onlookers.

LAMBADI FOLK DANCE

GUSADI DANCE This dance is performed by the Raj Gonds of Adilabad district. The Gonds dressed in colorful costumes and decorated with ornaments go to neighboring villages in troupes, singing and dancing. Such troupes are called Dandar dance troupes. This dance is performed from the full moon day and goes on till the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight of Deepavali .

GUSADI DANCE

PERINI SIVATANDaVAM Perini Sivatandavam or Perini Thandavam is an ancient dance form Telanagana which has been served in recent times. It originated and proposed in Telangana during kakatiya dynasty. This dance usually performed by males its is called as Dance of warriors .

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS Some of the musical instruments of the tribes of Telangana are: Adivasi Nagara Gondi Tudum Burra Kanjara Jeganta

Musical Instrument- DAPPU Its an instrument of the marginalized people. it is a traditional with roots in folklore, an integral part of the lives and a way of protesting oppression. It is the symbol of revolution. A Beat that refuses to Die Out.

FOLK MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

Telangana is famous for its weaving and dying techniques because its cotton production units are world famous. The famous sarees made in Telangana include pochampally sarees Gadwal and Ikat sarees .

Telangana Cuisine There is a special palce for roti’s made from millets, such as jonna rotte (sorghum), sajja rotte ( penisetum ), sarva pindi and uppudi pindi . In telangana a gravy or curry is called Koora and Pulusu ( sour) is base on tamarind.

BIO- DIVERSITY Telangana is rich in biodiversity. The state Bird- PALAPITTA The state Animal- JINKA(Deer) The state Tree- JAMMI CHETU ( Prosopis Cineraria)
