1.- When Samantha was a teenager, she used to be in gymnastic competitions
all the time. She had the fortune to be in the 1996 Olympic Games in
Atlanta. She won a gold medal in Artistic Gymnastics. Her parents were very
proud of her. Samantha was training in the gym for 4 years before the
Olympics. She was getting up at 5 in the morning to go running. She hardly
saw her family.
2.- Gema was doing the dishes last night when the phone rang. It was her
best friend. She invited her out but Gema couldn’t go because she was very
tired; she doesn’t have a housekeeper that could help her with the
housechores. She used to have one but she fired her because she stole money
from her purse.
3.- John F. Kennedy used to be a sickly man. He used to drink several pills a
day because he used to have strong back pains. He was taking these pills for
the first 4 years as a president. He loved his wife, but he hurt her deeply
because he was a skirt chaser. He supported the American Civil Rights
movement. People around the globe respected him for encouraging peace.
He was assassinated in 1963 in a presidential motorcade in Dallas Texas.
4.- Nelson Mandela served as the President of South Africa for 5 years. He
received guerrilla training in Morocco and Ethiopia. He spent nearly 70 years
of his life advocating for the rights of minorities in South Africa. He always
wanted to establish a free and non-racist society in the country. He was
against discrimination, injustice and inequality. He fought with stubborn
resolve.
