F THE ORGANIZATION
INTRODUCTION
Communication is the activity of conveying information through the thoughts, messages, or
information, by speech, visuals, signals, writing, or behavior between two parties for the purpose
of establishing mutual understanding. In organization, there is necessity of communication.
Thus, business communication is the process of establishing a common understanding between
or among people within a business environment. Business communication is carefully organized,
formal, and more concerned with getting things done. Communication process are mostly used
by business in terms of background information, organizational, lines communication, context
of communication ,recruitment, style of writing memo and the language of their document.
Fidelity started ten years ago which was a discount bank. It has over seventy five (75) branches
in the country among which forty branches are in Accra only. It is a universal bank, meaning
they do every business in the banking system. Fidelity bank Is a commercial bank in Ghana
which was issued with its universal banking license on june,28, 2006, making it the 22
nd
bank to
be licensed by the bank of Ghana . It is one of the twenty-seven (27) licensed commercial banks
in the country.
Fidelity bank is headquartered in Accra at Ridge Towers. As of January 2013, the bank operates
(43) networked branches and ( 65) visa enabled ATMs at various locations.
The chairman of this bank is Mr.William Panford Bray and the managing director and the chief
executive officer is Mr. Edward Effah.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The structure of the organization is a hierarchical system and vertically integrated and no one can
bypass the direct line of the organization. Everyone has a superior to report to. The structure
from the bottom is listed below
Officers – Personal bankers or relation officer.
Operations supervisor- Looks at the operations.
Branch manager- Looks at operations and sales.
Area manager- supervises the clusters.
The various branches are grouped into clusters. They are seven clusters all over the country.
Channel Manager- He ensures sales move on. He directs the area manager on what to do. They
are strictly on sales.
Director- Retail, operations, finance, institutional banking. They all work together.

MODE OF THE COMMUNICATION
System of communication is through the e-mail. E-mail is also useful for security and evidence
puposes. Context of communication is always formal and without any grapevine. The major
source of information is through the mail.
Fidelity Bank used to employ every national service person but stopped since their population
increased.
They laid-off workers since most work is done by machines. If there are vacancies they
disseminate it through their intranet. They also undertake graduate management training
programme which helps them to employ other people into the bank. External recruitment is also
used in getting candidates for the job. They use memos to communicate among themselves.
These memos are sent when sending money. The memo is used to make a formal request from
the finance department. Memos are also sent through the mail. Information sent outside are sent
through business letters with the letterhead. Languages used are all formal.
