DESCRIPTION
•It had a stocky body and a long, thin snout. Their pectoral fins
were small and rounded at the tip.
It had a triangular dorsal fin that was toward in the middle of
it’s body.
Caudal fin was well developed.
•It had small eyes near to the top of the head. The ears were
where the other dolphin ’s eyes are. It’s colors were pale,
smoked gray and sometimes pink.
•It lived in the Yangtze river in China.
•Weight: from 155 lbs to 200 lbs (adult), 11 lbs (newborn)
•Sizes: an adult could measure form 6 feets to 8 feets and a
newborn could measure from 2 feets to 6 feets.
•They could live to 30 years.
•They ate small fish and shrimp.

Why is it extinct?
•It is extincted due to the high level of
contamination in the Yangtze river. It killed the
small fish so it couldn’t eat them. The
contamination also affected their skin.
•Anyway the baiji dolphin is not totally extinct, it’s
“functionaly extinct”.
We say that because the chinese scientists say
that others animals which were extinct appeared
suddently so there is a 1% of possibility that it
reappears.

Where did it live?
•The Baiji Dolphin lived in the Yangtze
river, wich is the largest river in China and
Asia and the third in the world.
•It’s a river dolphin so you could’t find it in
the sea.
