' ' I the moonlight he recounted ' ' , I remembered my home town , my idolized mother, and my solicitous sisters . Ah , sweet to me was Calamba, my own town , in spite of the fact that was not as wealthy as Binan .
The school was thirty meters away from the house of his Aunt and also house of his teacher Maestro Justiniano Cruz which was described by Rizal as tall , thin , long necked , with a sharp nose and body slightly bend forward, and he used sinamay shirt and he knew by heart the grammar by Nebrija and Gainza . The name is a portmanteau of the priests surname GOMBURZA incurred the hatred of Spanish Authorities for fighting for equal rights among priests and leading the campaign against the Spanish friars . INJUSTICE OF THE HERO'S M O T H E R When Rizal's mother , Dona Teodora was accused of attempting to poison Don Jose Alberto's wife in 1872, the authorities dr a gged her out of her home and made her walk the distance from Calamba to the provincial Capital of Laguna at Santa Cruz which is about 30 meters away . The Spaniards probably did to others suspect who had to be detained at the provincial jail . But making her walk such a distance was atrocious event at that time now going back dragging her out of her home , the people who arrested her were their friendly acquaintances . According to Rizal these w e re the very people of his Family fed and welcomed and yet they treated his mother in so cavalier a fashion . That experience had an impact on the youthful Rizal and it made Rizal to distrust everyone . Rizal's mother Teodora Alonzo , was unjustly impression by Spanial Colonial government in the Philippines inn1887. Teodora was arrested and imprisoned on charges of harbouring her son , the renowned Filipino Nationalist and writers Jose Rizal. , who was considered a threat to Spanish Colonial rule . Though the charges where fabricated . Teodora was held in prison for over two years , suffering harsh condition and mistreatment . This was a clear injustice carried out by the oppressive Spanish authorities against Rizal's Family in an attempt to undermine his growing influence and activism against Spanish Colonialism in the Philippines .
At that time Rizal's , mother was already aged but the authorities still forced her to walk the distance to Santa Cruz but this time the local official in charge of her took pity and stooped her march When Rizal was already condemned to die by musketry, there was an emotional last meeting with him and his mother . Dona Teodora tried to hug her son but the guards separated them . That must have been heart tugging . That was not the only instance when Rizal mother was made to walk under police guard . The other instance when she was accused of not using her married name . A flimsy charge , bht this happened after Rizal had stirred up the peasants of Calamba and contest the ownership of the hacienda where Rizal's Family as well as other had their farms . The Dominican owned the Calamba hacienda as well as those in the towns of Santa Rosa , Brian , San Pedro and Silang . Rizal insinuated that the lands were illegally acquired by the religious order .
