Region IV-B (MIMAROPA) MIMAROPA is a region in the Philippines composed of Mindoro ( Occidental and Oriental), Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan. Known for its natural beauty and vibrant cultural heritage, the region boasts indigenous traditions, festivals, cuisine, and historical landmarks that reflect the deep-rooted history of its provinces.

INDIGENOUS GROUPS The indigenous Mangyan people, mainly found in Mindoro, are divided into eight subgroups , each with unique dialects and customs. Their traditional clothing, jewelry, and woven crafts are expressions of their way of life. Efforts to preserve their culture and the Mangyan script are part of the cultural heritage of the region ​. INDIGENOUS GROUPS Palawan is home to several indigenous groups such as the Tagbanua , Palaw’an , and Batak . These groups have maintained their ancestral customs and sustainable lifestyles in harmony with nature ​. PALAWAN TRIBES

TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS Celebrated during Holy Week , this colorful festival reenacts the story of Longinus , a Roman soldier who pierced Christ’s side during the crucifixion. Participants wear masks and Roman costumes in processions and dramatic performances. ​ MORIONES FESTIVAL (MARINDUQUE)

TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS This regional festival celebrates the unity of the provinces through a grand street parade, drum competitions, and various cultural performances . It showcases the vibrant arts, music, and dances from each province. ​ MIMAROPA FESTIVAL

CUISINES Traditional dishes such as sinagol (a dish made with coconut and seafood), pinaltok (sticky rice dumplings), and local delicacies like arrowroot cookies reflect the region's culinary creativity ​. MARINDUQUE’S SPECIALTIES

CUISINES Both Occidental and Oriental Mindoro offer an abundance of fresh seafood. The culinary culture here is simple yet rich, with fish often grilled or served in coconut-based stews ​. MINDORO’S FRESH SEAFOOD

ARTS & HANDICRAFTS Known as the " Marble Capital of the Philippines ," Romblon produces exquisite marble products. These are handmade by local artisans and are sought after both nationally and internationally ​. ROMBLON MARBLE

ARTS & HANDICRAFTS The indigenous groups of Palawan are known for their intricate weaving and basket-making , which utilize natural materials like rattan and bamboo. Bansuan weaving is a traditional craft among the Tagbanua people of Palawan. ​ PALAWAN WEAVING & CRAFTS

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS The largest coral reef system in the Philippines and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Apo Reef is known for its rich marine biodiversity. It is a diving haven and a key part of the region's eco-tourism ​. APO REEF (OCCIDENCTAL, MINDORO)

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS Another UNESCO-listed site, this coral atoll is famous worldwide for its pristine diving conditions and vibrant marine life. ​ TUBBATAHA REEF (PALAWAN)

CONCLUSION Region IV-B (MIMAROPA )offers a rich tapestry of traditions, from its indigenous heritage and unique festivals to its artisanal crafts and cuisine. Each province contributes to the cultural mosaic of the region, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking an authentic experience of Filipino culture.
