Narrative Text in Literature It includes novels, short stories, and poems that uses imaginative language and expresses emotion, often through the use of imagery metaphors, and symbols. Examples: Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Ramayana and Mahabharata (an Indian Literature)
Expository Text It provides facts in a way that is educational and purposeful. The text is fact-based with the purpose of exposing the truth through a reliable source. True and deliberate expository text will focus on educating its reader. Other descriptors of exposition are clear, concise, and organized writing. Examples: Textbooks News articles Instruction manuals Recipes City or country guides Language books Self-help books
Explanatory Text Sometimes called explanation. It is a type of non-fiction text that explains a process (for example, how something works or why something happens).
Factual and Personal Recount Factual recount is used to record details and facts of a particular event the speaker or writer has not necessarily involved in. Example: Is when it’s a moment that the writer has not experienced but has seen or thinks it is interesting to write about.
Personal recount describes events that the speaker/writer was personally involved in. In written form, this is usually autobiographical. Example: Is a personal that you have experienced.
Persuasive Text The purpose of persuasive text is to convince the reader of the merits of adopting a particular viewpoint or taking a specific course of action. Example: Propaganda
