The Fox and the Crow Aesop’s Fables

Characters Crow Fox

Vocabulary Clever: very smart. Horrible: very unplesant and awful. Greedy: wanting to have more than other needs.

A Fox was walking in the woods one day. He saw a crow sitting on a tree branch. A piece of cake was in its beak. The fox was hungry, and the cheese looked delicious.

The fox was very clever. He had an idea about how he could get the cheese.

“Hello”, said the fox. “You look very beautiful today. I am sure such a beautiful bird can sing a beautiful song.”

The crow was very happy. Without thinking, she opened her beak to sing. Two things happened next. First, the air was filled with a horrible sound: “Caw, caw!”. Second, the cheese fell. The fox caught it in his greedy mouth.

“Thank you”, said the fox. “Now please stop making that terrible noise!.”
