Samarkand is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded around the 8th century BC. He is the same age as ancient Rome. WSB Academy

In ancient history, Samarkand is known as the capital of the ancient state of Sogdiana , described back in the 6th century. BC e. in the sacred book of Zoroastrianism - the Avesta . WSB Academy

Throughout the history of Samarkand, many rulers have changed, but Amir Temur became the most memorable of all WSB Academy Amir Temur Temur

Amir Temur made an outstanding contribution to the national state system, education and culture, to the overall development of his state. He contributed to the construction of monumental historical buildings, especially in Samarkand. Some of them can be seen today. WSB Academy

Registan Registan (from reg - sand and stan - place; literally - a place covered with sand) is the name of the main squares in the cities of the Middle East. WSB Academy

The Registan ensemble includes 3 buildings: Sher-Dor , Tillya -Kori and Ulugbek Madrasah WSB Academy

Sherdor Madrasah Sherdor (Uzbek. Sherd о r m а dras а si , Tajik. Madrasai Sherdor - literally. Madrasah with lions) is one of the three most famous madrasahs in Samarkand, built in 1619-1636. on the Registan square. WSB Academy

Tillya -Kari Tillya -Kari (Uzbek. Tilla Qori mаdrasаsi ) is one and three famous madrasahs in Samarkand, built in the middle of the 17th century on Registan Square. WSB Academy

Ulugbek madrasah Ulugbek madrasah (Uzbek. Ulug`bek madrasasi ) is the oldest madrasah of the architectural ensemble in Samarkand, built in 1417-1420. ruler of the Timurid state and astronomer Ulugbek . WSB Academy

When Amir Temur once again returned from the campaign. Bibi Khanum was waiting for him at home with a surprise in the form of a palace built in his honor and named Bibi Khanum WSB Academy

Bibi Hanum Bibi (Uzbek. Bibi-Xonim masjidi ) is an architectural monument of 1399-1404. in Samarkand, the grandiose cathedral mosque of Tamerlane, richly decorated with tiles, carved marble and paintings. WSB Academy

In addition to all the above listed cultural monuments in Samarkand there are such monuments as Gur Emir, Shahi-Zinda , etc. WSB Academy

Gur-Emir Gur-Emir (Uzbek. Go'ri Amir, Tajik. Guri Amir from Pers. گورِ امیر - " Tomb of the Emir") - the mausoleum of the Asian conqueror Amir Timur (also known as Tamerlane) in Samarkand WSB Academy

Shahi Zinda Shahi Zinda (Persian شاه زنده - literally "living king", in Persian sound - Shokh-i Zinda ) is a monument of medieval architecture in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), an ensemble of mausoleums of the Samarkad nobility. The complex that has come down to us consists of eleven mausoleums, which were successively attached to each other during the XIV-XV centuries. WSB Academy

The mysterious monument of Shahi - Zinda has its own legend, which says that during the persecution of the pagans, Shah Kussam ibn Abbas hid in a well. And 7 centuries after returning from another campaign, Amir Temur wished to worship at the graves of saints, many of whom are buried in Samarkand. WSB Academy

Finally, Timur drove up to the well in which Shakhi-Zinda hid from the pagan enemies at the time when Samarkand had just been conquered by the Arabs and Islam began to be implanted in it. Then a doubt fell on Timur - is it true that Shahi-Zinda , the great and revered saint, is alive WSB Academy

He turned to his companions and said: “I have read in history books, and all people know that Shakhi-Zinda hid in the well when he was pursued by the rebellious and renounced Islam from Samarkand, that he is alive and is in the well. I want to know if this is fair, has not Shokhi-Zinda already died? " WSB Academy

Then Temur decided to send one of his soldiers to the well so that he would learn the truth about Shokhi-Zinda . One man from among the soldiers, named Khida , volunteered to offer Temur . He went down to the well and saw Shahi Zinda Kussam there, but Shahi Zinda , having learned, that this person was not one of them told him if you tell Amir Temur that you saw here then you will go blind and each of your offspring will be born blind. Climbing to the top, Hida told everything Amir Temur how he was forced to do it and immediately went blind WSB Academy
